Laura Shipman (She/Her) Therapist in Lakewood, Laura Shipman LCSW, CAS, brings an impressive degree of skills and experience to Westside Behavioral Care. In Laura's Own Words: I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Addictions Specialist per the State of Colorado. I am a therapist in Lakewood with an office convenient to Littleton, Denver, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Golden, and Highlands Ranch. I love my work and am committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you are able to explore your core beliefs, ways of thinking, perceptions, and patterns of tension in your body. Trauma, abuse, neglect, and other wounding contribute to how we form our relationship with the world and with ourselves. I have more than thirty years of experience working with adults, adolescents and families. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work in behavioral health facilities, day treatment centers, secure residential facilities and community programs. I have extensive training and experience in individual therapy, group counseling, family therapy and coaching, trauma informed interventions, substance use disorders and treatment, and women’s issues. I have training in EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and many additional interventions. Laura understands the importance of work/life balance.  She enjoys hiking, biking and any time she can be on or near water.  She has a strong love for animals and has been known to adopt a few. Any time spent traveling, typically includes watching and photographing wildlife.
